Torus marches with Pride
14 August 2023
At Torus, we are working to create stronger communities which celebrate the diverse backgrounds of our customers and colleagues. This year we proudly joined Pride festivities across our heartlands.
June is globally recognised as Pride Month, and the event that started as a protest has grown to encompass so much more. To show solidarity with the LGBTQI+ community, this summer colleagues from across the Torus Group participated in Pride celebrations across our heartlands of Liverpool, St Helens and Warrington.
Kicking off our trio of community Pride events was Warrington’s first Pride event since Covid where we had the opportunity to speak to the LGBTQI+ members of the community and share the support we can offer them through our charitable arm, Torus Foundation.
St Helens Pride turned out to be their biggest yet with people from across the borough turning out to spread love for the LGBTQI+ community. Starting with a parade through the town centre and ending with free entertainment from arts organisation, Wonder Arts.
Last, but certainly not least of our three Pride events, was Liverpool Pride. Joining an estimated 20,000 people, colleagues from across the Torus Group showed their solidarity for the LGBTQI+ community living in Liverpool, Kyiv and across the world at Liverpool’s “March with Pride”
Building on the legacy of Eurovision 2023, Liverpool’s annual March with Pride was held alongside KyivPride in what turned out to be the city’s biggest-ever Pride march.
The work we are doing in the communities is also being echoed in our workplaces, where in the last year we have recruited a dedicated Inclusion Lead, are establishing colleague networks and raised awareness of the challenges faced by marginalised communities.
