Record number of vulnerable older people supported by Torus Group’s Christmas Campaign
16 December 2024
£9,163.83 has been raised for Torus Group’s annual Christmas Campaign to provide more than 640 vulnerable older people with a gift this Christmas.
Each year, Torus fundraises to ensure the most vulnerable of their 78,000 tenants don’t go without a gift at Christmas. Thanks to donations from generous local suppliers, organisations and individuals a record amount was raised to support more people than ever this festive season.
A Torus tenant who was one of many recipients, expressed his gratitude for the gift:
“I just received a Christmas present from Torus and I would like to give my heartfelt thanks for this lovely and kind gesture. It has really cheered me up and put a smile on my face. Thank you very much indeed.”
Each of the 647 gifts are being hand-delivered by teams across the Torus Group. Staying Home Officers who help our older customers remain independent and Torus leadership teams, including Steve Coffey, Group Chief Executive, were part of the delivery team.
Torus Group Chief Executive, Steve Coffey said:
“Being able to hand deliver these gifts – made possible thanks to incredible donations – is honestly one of the highlights of my year. It brings home the importance of reaching out to people in our communities, especially over the festive period.
“More than 2 million older people are living alone which can be difficult any time of year, but especially Christmas. Being in a position where we can give some of our older tenants and residents a gift, no matter how small, is all thanks to the amazing organisations and individuals who donated.”
Another Torus tenant was delighted by the gift:
“Thanks so much for the gift, it was a really nice surprise. The calendar for next year will be really useful. It’s cheered me up today”
