Involved tenants learn what goes into transforming empty properties into safe home
31 March 2025
At Torus, we're always looking for ways to bring our tenants closer to the heart of what we do. That's why, on Friday 21 March 2025, we took five of our involved tenants on a site visit to two of our empty properties.
We work closely with our contractors, HMS, to transform empty properties into safe and welcoming spaces to give people in need somewhere to call home as quickly as possible.
Our involved tenants got an in-depth look at the process thanks to a visit led by Lee Adams, Senior Manager of Voids at Torus, and Stephen Boylan, HMS Contract Manager for Vacant Home Refurbishment
On the day, Torus tenants got a first-hand look at two very different properties in difference stages of refurbishment. The first was in early stages of having major renovation works done. The works on the second property had been complete, so tenants were able to see the difference that had been made.

The day was described as an “eye-opener” for involved tenants and helped them to understand the challenges involved in transforming a space from empty to move-in ready.
John, one of our involved tenants said:
"As a Torus tenant and involved tenant l now realise the work that goes into getting a property ready for the new tenant I think Torus and HMS really should be congratulated"
