14 October 2026

We have learned that the Housing Ombudsman Service recently reported a cybersecurity incident involving one of its third-party suppliers used in its case management system.

This incident affects the Housing Ombudsman Service, not our own systems. However, some of our customers may have shared information with the Housing Ombudsman when making a complaint or during an investigation.

The Housing Ombudsman Service has told us it is investigating whether any personal information was affected and has reported the incident to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

As a precaution, if you have contacted the Housing Ombudsman Service, please stay alert and be careful if you get any unexpected emails, phone calls, or text messages asking for personal information.

We recommend you:

  • Do not disclose personal or financial information unless you are confident of the requester's identity.
  • Be careful with unexpected messages that ask you to click links, open attachments, or make payments.
  • If you notice anything suspicious, report it to the relevant organisation or authorities.

For the latest updates about this incident, visit the Housing Ombudsman Service website or contact their Data Protection Officer at [email protected].

We will monitor the situation and let you know about any important updates.
