Our Community Investment Fund is back, and bigger than ever

18 April 2024

Local charities now have the excellent opportunity to apply for a share of £60,000 from Torus Foundation’s Community Investment Fund (CIF), aimed at increasing vital support to those living across Liverpool, St Helens, Warrington, and the surrounding areas.

In the last year alone, CIF has provided grants to 80 local charities and organisations.

By inviting organisations to apply for up to £1500, four times throughout the year, we have supported local projects, which have included those that tackle isolation, provide essential aid to families, making improvements to activities for young people and so much more.

This year for the first time, Torus Foundation is also seeking to award three charities with a grant of £5000 each!

While projects can vary, they will need to reflect Torus Foundation’s focus areas of support, such as providing access to jobs and training support, helping people make use of their money, providing engaging activities for young people, along with helping communities to work towards improving their health and wellbeing.

What sets this grant apart is its inclusive panel, comprising of Torus tenants. CIF Tenant Panel Member James highlights:

“I love being involved with other tenants, knowing that we’ve played a part in awarding grants that are delivering real impact across the whole region. It’s exciting to consider the greater opportunities that this £5000 grant will open up for the smaller charities.”

Kate Shone, Managing Director Torus Foundation explains:

“With the aim of empowering local initiatives, Torus Foundation hopes local charities will take full advantage of this fantastic opportunity to apply for a grant of £5000, helping to drive positive change from the grassroots up. It has been a privilege seeing how our Community Investment Fund have been allocated so far, and we’re hoping the smaller charities across Torus communities can really make an impact with this additional money.”

To ensure transparency and accountability, applicants must have up to date Charity Commission reports and meet specific eligibility criteria. Small charities with a total income under £500,000 are eligible to apply for the £5000.

CIF cannot be allocated to political or solely religious activities, services that disadvantage people living in Torus neighbourhoods, or towards the day to day running costs of a service.
