North West growth and regeneration group Torus is celebrating after landing an internationally recognised award for demonstrating high health and safety standards.

Torus has received a Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Health and Safety Award for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of its employees, customers, contractors, and stakeholders.

As one of the region’s largest housing providers, developers and commercial contractors with profits reinvested into the Group’s charitable arm Torus Foundation, the organisation employs more than 1,400 people, manages around 40,000 homes, and serves 75,000 customers.

The RoSPA Gold Health and Safety Award recognises Torus’ drive to ensure safety and wellbeing is at the forefront for all its employees, customers, contractors, and stakeholders. The investment in a robust safety infrastructure and a positive culture towards health and safety over the last three years which has resulted in a continuous drop in the reduction in accident and incident frequency rates year on year reported to the Health and Safety Executive and a zero Covid-19 workplace transmission during the pandemic.

Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world-leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants compete to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest-running health and safety industry awards.
